You've probably already started thinking about how to label moving boxes. This means that you have completed one of the most laborious, time-consuming and difficult tasks, which is packing! It is important that you complete it in a timely fashion so that it can be completed successfully.

When labeling boxes, make sure you get the timing right

Timing plays a key role in improving efficiency when packing boxes for relocation.

Once you have finished packing your container, mark it with the contents and destination room. This is the right way to label a container. If you don't label the boxes properly, it is possible that you will forget what's in them. It can also lead to more time wasted after the move.

Moving boxes can be labeled with colors

You can identify your boxes faster if you use different colors for their labels after the move.

It's important to know that using the color-coding system is the best way to label boxes while moving. This concept is simple but very effective. You simply choose one color to be used in each room and then stick with it until you reach the end. It's really that simple.

You might choose blue as the color BEDROOM. In this case, you'll take out your blue marker, and mark every box that needs to end up in your bedroom with it. It is important to specify exactly what each container contains, and not just BEDROOM.

Label your boxes like a professional packer

• Use the box labeling technique that is most familiar to you and continue using it until all your boxes are labeled. You should not switch between labeling boxes during a move.

• Provide the following information (except if you're using numbers), on each box: destination room; contents; and handling instructions. To make sure that someone handling fragile or broken items is more careful, mark the outside of any boxes you've just packed. If necessary, you can write FRAGILE and HANDLE W/ CARE in large black or red letters. This will draw the carrier's eye.

• Label at the top of each cardboard container. Your writing should be visible even if the boxes have been neatly stacked. It's not worth wasting your time looking at every container, moving around until you spot the one you need.

• Add labeling to your boxes using clear packing tape. This ensures that the labels don't slip or get damaged or lost during transport. Although glue is an option to keep the non-colored labels where they should be, this method can take longer than simply taping them with quality tape. It can also make the process unnecessarily messy.

• Take extra care when marking second-hand boxes. Some cardboard boxes may have markings or insignia on them if they are used. To avoid confusion, place your labels above the older ones to hide them. If that is impossible, cut pieces of colored paper and glue them on top of the old stickers or labels.
